Last week the Carhartt store in Earlham St hosted another dope instore event featuring Guru of Gang Starr fame, ably supported by our boy Professor Green. Turns out they became mates a while ago when Guru was allegedly kicked out of a party for smoking something Pro Green had sold him…
These Carhartt events are a cut above your average streetwear sausage party: the music is always good, the beer is always free and there’s always a healthy proportion of girls with healthy proportions in the crowd, making it all a hell of a lot more fun than the usual fare where you just end up sober and surrounded by guys checking out your trainers.
Pro Green and co. were dipped in Second Son. PG was rocking some of our new range that will be dropping in early May, and Guru and Solar copped themselves some of our Ol’ Dirty Birdsong tees too (right, that’s the obligatory product plug out of the way). Green quickly discovered that when you’re dipped in Second Son from head to toe the ladies will “flock to your jock like it’s golden”, to quote a Guru lyric (see what I did there?):

Here’s Cores with 15 chicks trying to touch him all at once. Must be the t-shirt (right, that’s the obligatory product plug out of the way)

The boys tore it up as usual with bangers like “Trunk Shit” and the Dead Prez bootleg “Lick Shots”:

Gang sign or just swearing at the audience?

Pro Green doing his best evil grin. I nicked this photo from Better Late Than Never, sorry guys…

Like I said, there were some hot chicks in the crowd…

Ooops I think that’s PG’s friend, I meant these:

Guru and Solar finally turned up later on to do their show. By this time everyone was drunk on free beer and it all went down pretty well. Someone had warned me that Guru, being no longer in the first flush of youth, now looks like Skeletor, but I’m happy to report that he was in fact pretty well preserved. He probably has nuff groupies oiling him with cocoa butter on a daily basis or whatever rap stars do.

This guy Scandal was also playing. I hadn’t heard any of his stuff before but he was dope, especially when joined on stage by Ransom Badbones:

Difficult to tell from this photo, but Jay was apparently working on the night:

I strongly recommend you head down there for the next event. Cheers to Carhartt, Charlie Whatley, Professor Green and BNTL for the photos…
