Freediving is an intriguing sport. People make a living from perfecting that most childish game of seeing who can hold their breath the longest under water. Hardly a spectator sport yet it has a mystique to it that possibly comes from the danger involved. In most sports mistakes cost points or glory, yet in freediving a mistake is far more serious. Ever since reading an article in the Sunday papers on the death of Audrey Mestre I’ve been fascinated by why someone would want to push themselves deeper and deeper into an abyss, further from the safety and oxygen of dryland. This video shows the world champion Guillaume Nery trying a new technique of Underwater Basejumping. Rather nice I thought. via Coolography
