I was just perusing our pal Remco’s column on High Snobiety and came across some absolute gems. Remco is a genius in terms of both graphics and parties and is one of the nice chaps behind the label Ontour. He also knows his chickens when it comes to art, and he’s just posted up a load of videos by some Dutchies with the astonishing names of Lernert Engelberts and Sander Plug.
Though they sound like an aging composer of elevator music and a carpenter’s sex toy respectively, they’re actually a couple of artists who make great video work with a simple but brilliant mantra: “Commit and dedicate yourself to even the most stupid ideas that come to mind.” This approach has led to them melting chocolate bunnies with an iron (see below), learning to play 2 Unlimited’s “No Limit’ on a home-made 18th-century-style wine glass organ, and making a film about a woman whose AOL search engine queries were accidentally made public. Peep the bunnies below and check the Ontour column for more bangers.
The aforementioned AOL queries, in case you were wondering, ranged from the mundane (”sheryl crow lyrics”) to the poetic (”what does not want confusion”, “death by viagra”) to the bizarre (”cruises are for poor people”, “can a person contact hiv from sweat”) - sometimes all on the same day. The entire list is here and it makes for compellingly strange reading.
